jacksons.tv: Why did you start training at Jackson’s/Winkeljohn’s?
Diego Ortiz: I started training at Jackson’s because my friend was going here and I just wanted to try it out.
jacksons.tv: What do you like most about grappling?
Diego Ortiz: I like grappling because you get a lot of exercise and you learn a lot of techniques.
jacksons.tv: What kind of techniques have you learned?
Diego Ortiz: I’ve learned takedowns and all kinds of submissions.
jacksons.tv: What is your favorite technique?
Diego Ortiz: My favorite technique is the rear naked choke.
jacksons.tv: How do you usually get in position to do a rear naked choke?
Diego Ortiz: I usually take them down and take their back.
jacksons.tv: Who is your favorite Jackson’s/Winkeljohn’s fighter?
Diego Ortiz: My favorite fighter is George St. Pierre because he is so good and knows so many moves.

jacksons.tv: What is your favorite part of class?
Jasmina Gonzalez: I like when we practice doing the triangle and different techniques to get out of the triangle.
jacksons.tv: What is your favorite takedown?
Jasmina Gonzalez: I like double legs. I’m successful most of the time but not always. I try to get in side control so I can go for mount.
jacksons.tv: What drill do you find most useful for grappling?
Jasmina Gonzalez: Bear crawls. They help with your legs and arms so you can move faster.
jacksons.tv: Who is your favorite Jackson’s/Winkeljohn’s fighter?
Jasmina Gonzalez: I like Keith Jardine.

jacksons.tv: What do you do on dodge ball Fridays?
Robert Gonzalez: On dodge ball Fridays, we play dodge ball. Its kids and teens vs. the grown ups – the coach, who is my dad, most of the coaches and some of the parents.
jacksons.tv: What is your best technique you use from the guard position?
Robert Gonzalez: I like to use the sweep from the guard. I use because I like to get to the mount position and then I work to get a submission from there.
jacksons.tv: From the mount position what submissions do you like to do?
Robert Gonzalez: I like to do the armbar. I don’t like to do the triangle because you have to left up the head to get your leg under – so it’s pretty hard.
jacksons.tv: What is it like to compete in a grappling tournament?
Robert Gonzalez: It’s fun. At first it’s I’m a little nervous. In the first round you wondering how strong your opponent is going to be and what he is going to do. After the first round the butterflies just go away and it’s just like regular grappling.
jacksons.tv: You enjoy going to grappling tournaments?
Robert Gonzalez: Yes I do. It’s very fun.
jacksons.tv: Who is your favorite Jackson’s/Winkeljohn’s fighter?
Robert Gonzalez: George St. Pierre. I like him because he is a good fighter and he inspires me.

jacksons.tv: Why did you start training at Jackson’s/Winkeljohn’s?
Dominic Vasquez: The instructor at my old school left so I needed a new school so we came here.
jacksons.tv: What did you want to learn when you came to Jackson’s/Winkeljohn’s
Dominic Vasquez: I wanted to work on my grappling because that is what interested me the most.
jacksons.tv: What do you like most about grappling?
Dominic Vasquez: Grappling is fun and it’s great when you can compete.
jacksons.tv: Do you have to been in good condition to grapple?
Dominic Vasquez: Yes, you have to be in great condition to grapple. If you’re a beginner than you just learn new moves. If you’re advanced you have to been in your best condition.
jacksons.tv: What do you like about competing?
Dominic Vasquez: Once you’re out there its just fun. It’s all about fun not just that “you’re the best” but having fun.
jacksons.tv: What is your favorite technique?
Dominic Vasquez: My favorite technique is the triangle because that is my strongest move. Once someone takes me down they don’t suspect that I have a great triangle.
jacksons.tv: So, you are very comfortable working from the guard and being on your back?
Dominic Vasquez: Yes, I’m very comfortable working from the guard because that is my strongest area.
jacksons.tv: Who is your favorite Jackson’s/Winkeljohn’s fighter?
Dominic Vasquez: My favorite is John Dodson. He is an acrobat and he is somebody I can look up to.
